It is an absolutely beautiful day today!

Today I accept where I am right now. I do not wish to go ahead and I do not wish to dwell in the past. The past is passed and the future hasn’t yet arrived.

I’m back on day 2 of vegan eating. Over the past couple of months, I have been advised via intuition and spiritual channels that my best diet right now is a vegan (Sattvic – see link below) one – mainly brown rice, veggies, fruit, beans, greens, etc. I’ve struggled to maintain this eating plan and I keep going off of it, but yesterday I decided that I’m going to follow through for at least a solid month. I haven’t given vegan eating a fair chance because I usually give up within a couple of weeks.

Many people wonder if veganism raises the body’s vibrations. I believe it does and there is plenty of information around to back up that idea. It is said that eating meat and animal products lowers a person’s vibrations. It is also believed that eating natural, enzyme-rich foods is best for meditation and spiritual practice. This is a good link that discusses the Sattvic Food Philosophy.

I’ve experimented a lot with my diet over the past couple of years and have had some interesting experiences. When subsisting solely on fruits, for example, I have the deepest meditations and often feel euphoric. However, I also tend to get emotional and find it hard to stay grounded. I lose weight easiest on a low carb diet, however, I always get sick within the first week or two, plus I have often ended up with low electrolytes and/or dehydration. (My body seems, for whatever reason, not to do well with high protein). As for a vegetarian (lacto/ovo) diet, I didn’t notice anything outstanding, except that I would eat way too much cheese and often crave it. :) When I’m sticking to a vegan diet, I have to be careful not to consume too many breads and pastas. (Breads and pasta – no matter if it is whole wheat and/or sprouted grain or not, does not seem to satiate my appetite). I feel lighter overall and sleep better, however, I also go through detox periods where I feel weak and/or excessively tired.

So, I’m going to dedicate myself to a totally vegan diet for a full month (starting from yesterday). I believe it will allow me to learn discipline and mindful eating and keep my spiritual/body vibrations higher. I’ll update here from time to time and let you all know how it’s going!

A few people have found their way to this blog by searching on google for ‘raising your vibration’. So, I figured I would do a post specific to this subject. :)

You might be asking, ‘why raise your vibration in the first place?’ Well, I’m sure you’ve heard of those old sayings, such as ‘like attracts like’ and ‘water seeks its own level’. Well, it’s true. We attract to us who and what we are, plus people at our same level, and/or sometimes slightly above or below our ‘vibrational’ level. (It should be noted that we also attract people who mirror things about us that we don’t like and/or wish to change. More on this in a later post).

Here are some ways that I’ve learned to raise our ‘vibration’. The most powerful methods are in bold:

  • Positive affirmations, said out loud meaningfully and slowly.
  • Read sentences or paragraphs out loud from a spiritual text or documents that speak of peace, love and/or joy.
  • Eat a clean, whole foods vegan or vegetarian diet.
  • Eat a fruitarian (fruit-only) diet.
  • Practice forgiveness regularly
  • Pray gratitude prayers
  • Practice seeing the good in everything around you as opposed to the unpleasant
  • Meditate, meditate, meditate!
  • Seek out a spiritual teacher and spend time in their company.
  • Laugh! Especially in groups of people. Laugh about everything and nothing.
  • Selflessly serve and assist others with a smile when possible.
  • Take walks near rivers or bodies of water, stop to watch ducks and animals playing.

(I’ll add to this list as things come to me).

Upon making it a practice to do these things regularly, you will begin to notice amazing changes in your life!

I had a conversation with a metaphysical friend several weekends ago. We were talking about why some people seem to appear really light and spirit-filled, while others don’t. And some seem to be really ‘dark’. This friend brought up that quote that goes something like, ‘that which you feed grows stronger.’ Meaning in this case, people who continually seek spiritual things will naturally give off a glow and light. And those who continually feed the ego and/or ignorance will not. I know this happens with me… when I’ve had a few good days of meditation and spiritual disciplines, I’ll get tons of comments from people telling me that I am glowing, or that my eyes look extra bright and green, etc. Strangers stop me a lot on these days to chat or smile and say hi.

So, do you want to give off a positive, light-filled energy aura that attracts a lot of people? Start meditating and/or praying regularly! Read spiritual books and texts and start feeding that ‘light’ part of you within.

Here is a fantastic affirmation that I got from spiritualforums.com recently:

I am pure, I am divine, I am unconditional love. My heart is the temple of Divine energy. I radiate pure love energy.

Definitely a high-vibrational and powerful affirmation! I’ve been very interested in raising my vibrations and keeping them up lately. (The ‘keeping them up’ part seems to be the most difficult). Other high-vibrational things I am doing these days is reading The Dhammapada (Buddhist literature) at night before bed. I also completed a 40 hour fruit fast. I ate nothing but fresh raw fruit during that time. I had a great meditation today before coming off of the fast.

My next fruit fast will be at least 2, maybe 3 days!

Anyway, lately I’ve been really interested in reading about monks and yogis! Especially the ones who wander through the Himalayan mountains, or those who go to live in ashrams in India and Tibet. I’m especially fascinated with the guru/disciple relationship. The ascetic/monastic way of life intrigues me… imagine giving it all up for a spiritual pursuit. Many of these people subsist on spartan vegetarian diets and leave all of their possessions behind. I have to admit, the more I research the subject, the more I wish I could do it myself. Leave everything behind… (or most everything!) and travel to India or Tibet to find a guru. Haha. I know I was a Tibetan Buddhist Monk in at least one past life. This is probably why I currently find myself so fascinated in the subject.

Anyway, a couple of posts ago, I mentioned that I’d blog about a couple of intense spiritual experiences I had last week. These will be briefly mentioned in my next post, so stay tuned…
