My Daily Practices
Time to share my day-to-day activities! A quick note beforehand: I am a webmaster/blogger by trade, and so I have a lot of ‘extra’ time on my hands most days to devote to my spiritual growth, which I find to be a huge blessing. (I know there is a purpose for this and will lead to greater things in the future!) Having ‘extra’ time can also be a huge hindrance and sometimes I struggle to stay balanced. For instance, some days I’ll say “well, I don’t have to get up right now, so why should I?” or “I’ll do that later”, etc. I’m working really hard to build discipline and willpower in my life, two traits that I’ve found a bit, uhm, challenging in the past.
So on that note, here is a list of things I try to do each day.
- Dream Journal. I write down my dreams when I remember them, which has been pretty much daily lately. I often have lucid and/or very vivid dreams. I know that dreams are ‘inner level’ experiences (in the subconscious and sometimes superconscious mind) and I treat them as such. I use Universal Language of Mind to interpret my dreams, which the School of Metaphysics teaches. I attend a dream awareness class there regularly.
- Meditation upon waking up in the morning and also in the evening or at night before bed.
- A candle exercise I learned at school. I sit and focus my attention solely on a candle flame for 10 minutes, and make a mark on a paper each time my mind wanders. This builds mental discipline, makes one aware of their thoughts and over time, builds one’s concentration.
- Positive affirmations. I have surrounded myself with negative thoughts and beliefs since childhood, and it takes real work and determination to change these beliefs. I’ve learned some powerfully positive affirmations from the School of Metaphysics that I incorporate on many days, like: “I deserve to receive more,” and “Thank you, Gratitude.” There is an endless supply of affirmations I use, and often times I’ll use my own intuition to come up with one that is needed at the time.
- Daily exercise. This one has been a challenge for me at times!
- There are a couple of other mental disciplines that I practice not listed above.
I’ve recently incorporated other things into my routine, but they have not yet become actual routines so I won’t yet list them above. One thing is ‘transference of thought’ writing. Some call it ‘auto writing’. I don’t call it that anymore because I was actually informed that ‘transference of thought’ was a more appropriate description. Anyway, it involves me first meditating and stilling my mind as best as possible. Next, I will pray to God/Spirit/inner Higher Self to communicate with me if they so choose. Then I keep my conscious mind clear as much as possible and ‘receive’ from them. Lately I have had to do this on the computer because there is so much information coming forth it’s nearly impossible to write down manually. I can actually ask questions and receive immediate answers. I don’t hear an actual voice, it’s more of an inner authoritative voice. It/They often use words I later have to look up in the dictionary.
It might be channeling of some sort. Whatever it is, it has helped a lot and given some fantastic guidance and cleared up some myths. I am working on making this a daily practice. Soon… soon.
So, other than the above, I go about my normal daily routine… eating, sleeping, watching TV sometimes, working, getting on the internet, going to meetings at times, attending classes and/or events at the School of Metaphysics in Tulsa, hanging out with friends and family, etc!

[...] My Daily Practices « Hello world! [...]
Tarot helps you in lot of areas of your life as long as these facets matter to your non materialistic self. A typical field of application is love. Every individual requires love in his life to become truly happy. Love Tarot will help you in your pursuit for true love.
As a longtime seeker, I have found my best practice to be endeavoring to stay in a meditative state throughout my waking day. As I’m sure you know, this is nothing like a “trance” state, but a continuous, light Alpha state, and it can be achieved!
I remain thankful to a long-standing difficult relationship with my daughter – in trying to “figure out” exactly what was going on with our “disfunction” as a mother-daughter team, it acted like a koan, until I finally “got it” – now I can truly say I am at peace with the All – however it manifests.
Radiant Blessing to You…
